The Classical Era

 This week I will be exploring the arts of the Classical era and the major influences that were present during this era.  Throughout this era, you can find many types of classicism.  The common elements you can find in art from the Classical era include both neutral emotional feeling and neutral coloring.  On the other hand, one theme in the Classical era is Revolution and Art that I feel holds very much emotion that you can create in the paintings.  Revolution and Art relates to the Classical era in the way the art presents itself and its topics.  In this era you see many pieces of work contributed to war, leadership, and the theme of Revolution and Art is just that.   John Trumbell was a famous American painter.  He was very known for his paintings of the American Revolutionary War.  Above is one of John Trumbell's most famous painting and a painting that is widely known.  This painting is called George Washington before the Battle of Trenton.  This painting was done in 1791 and

This week I will be exploring the art found in the Baroque era and the major influences that were present during this specific era.  The Baroque era was a style of art, architecture, music, and dance that was amplified in Europe.  The era lasted from the early 17th century until around the 1740s.  Many characteristics of art done in the Baroque era consists of qualities such as drama, tension, richness, and emotion to achieve awe throughout an audience. Below is a very famous painting known as  Girl With A Pearl Earring .  This painting was done by an artist names Johannes Vermeer in 1665.  I am not completely sure where exactly it was painted, but the painting currently sits at the Mauritshuis in The Hague.  Johannes Vermeer's piece,  Girl With A Pearl Earring , portrays a European women wearing exotic clothing, but most famously, a large pearl earring.  The painting is so well known that it has a reputation of being called the "Mona Lisa of the North."  You can definite

Italian Renaissance

This week I will be talking about works of visual art and architecture from the Italian Renaissance.  The Italian Renaissance covered the 14th century through the 17th century.  This time period is very significant because it is known to be the transitional time from the Middle Ages to modernity. The art piece below is a very well-known work of art from this time period.  It is called the Creation of Adam .  This very famous work of art was created by a very famous and well-known Italian artist named Michelangelo.  Michelangelo "was an Italian sculptor, painter, and architect considered to be one of the most influential artists to come out of the Renaissance period." ( Stockwell, Margaux).   Michelangelo painted this piece of work between 1508 and 1512 on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, Rome.
